Hello everyone! We've had a great week continuing our bird topic. On explorers, we decided to venture into the Playground to have a play and also to have a look at what we could see in the Wildlife Pond. Mrs Wells took small groups over, with everyone keeping their eyes peeled for some frogs. Although we didn't end up seeing much, the children enjoyed the adventure of going to investigate. We also decided to take some bird surveys with us, so we could keep track of all the beautiful birds we spot on our walk - the children have brought a survey home in their bags to continue their bird watching and we can't wait to see what birds you've all been spotting over the holidays!
Over the week, the children have enjoyed finishing our window display. Some children had very creative ideas of using pine cones and twigs to make trees, and drawing their own birds. We have a lovely array of birds including some Sparrows, Robins and even a 'cheeky' Chaffinch! The children have enjoyed learning about the birds they can see in the Nursery Garden by using our new bird hide that we made! A lot of team work was used to make sure the eye holes were at the right height, and some great turn-taking as well!
On Thursday we had a lovely treat of going into Primary 2/3. They have been writing stories and wanted to share them with the Nursery. We heard stories of broccoli's, princesses and everything in between.
On our last day, and in light of Easter we made some chocolate nests. The children thoroughly enjoyed helping Mrs Roberts to melt the chocolate and mix it in with the weetabix - they look so yummy everyone!
We hope you've enjoyed the pictures and have a lovely Easter Holiday! :)
As the children have been noticing lots more wee birds appearing in the garden, this week in nursery we changed topics from the dinosaurs to birds! On Monday morning we had explorers where we went to the snack logs, and then enjoyed a new walk through the school woods and back home down the school path. The children enjoyed standing and listening to all the different bird sounds they could hear and looking for spiderwebs along the way. We had a very special visitor on Monday Afternoon, Mrs Bootle came into our nursery and read us lots of stories and even played some games with us!
In the garden, some children have enjoyed playing with hula hoops and playing in our bird watching hide! Some children have also enjoyed filling up the bird feeders so we can spot birds in the garden!
As the weather has been quite miserable, we've been in the nursery a lot so we've been making lot of play dough bird eggs, decorating our new window display and even looking at real life birds nest that Mrs Wells brought in - what a treat!
We hope you enjoy the pictures and have a lovely weekend!
This week in nursery the children have enjoyed lots of time in our fantastic Nursery Garden. They have been feeding the birds, making some delicious meals in the Mud Kitchen and playing with the Dinosaurs. As this week was our last week on the dinosaur topic we decided to take our Tuff Tray dinosaur habitat into the garden as the weather was just too good to be inside!
Inside the nursery, the children have been busy painting our rainbow wedges for the SHANARRI board display and using some great colour mixing to create the colours we needed. Our sensory tray was filled with custard powder and Atora to create a wonderful messy play dinosaur habitat, which many of the children enjoyed playing in!
On Thursday we had a very busy day! In the morning we went to the Gym Hall for some P.E. Mrs Wells brought along our favourite beans such as String bean, Runner bean and Three Bean Casserole. However we also had some great ideas such as Barnaby's addition of a Laughing bean and Morven's Microwave bean - what great beans guys!
In the afternoon we hosted Stay, Play and Learn where the children loved showing everyone around their nursery. It was lovely to see so many family members engaged with the children and being excited to see what they have achieved at nursery.
We hope you all enjoy the photos and have a lovely weekend!
Hello everyone. We've had a jam-packed week in nursery this week! After playing in the garden on Monday morning, we decided it would be a good idea to make some fat balls for the birds. Some of the children enjoyed getting their hands messy by warming up the lard and moulding it into a ball so they could stick as much bird seed on it as they could. They look great and the birds are loving them! As the weather was very poor on Monday, we delayed explorers until Tuesday and what a great morning we had! We walked across two troll bridges (making sure to hold tight to our snack!) and all the way through the woods to the snack logs.
The children have enjoyed continuing to create their life-size self portraits, with some amazing detail being added to them all - well done everyone! As well as this, many children have been creative with our home corner window display. The display is very tropical with palm trees and a volcano and instead of using brushes the children used sponges instead to create a lovely effect.
The dinosaur topic is keeping us very busy with lots of dinosaur skeletons made out of pasta and our new habitat in the sensory tray with cornflour and water, and a jelly volcano encouraging lots of messy play!
With the lovely winter sunshine the children also enjoyed a mid-week treat of hot chocolate and oatcakes for snack, we even sat outside!
We hope you enjoy the pictures, see you all on Monday!
Hello everyone! This is our blog over the last two short weeks we've had. The children have enjoyed Explorers, with a lovely twist having Mrs Roberts join to go to the Dragon's Nest. We've been continuing to learn all about dinosaurs and the nursery now has a habitat in the Tuff Tray, full of branches from Mrs Wells' tree, pine cones and of course, lots of dinosaurs! Additionally, our sensory tray now has 'lava' made from cornflour for our lovely dinosaurs to live in too. P.E saw the children learning how to move their body like a dinosaur, finding our own space in the gym hall and how our body feels after lots of exercise.
On Thursday it was World Book Day and we had many amazing costumes in the Nursery, based on our favourite books. We even did P.E all dressed, what a treat!
As well as dinosaurs, we are also learning about our self portraits. Many of the children have enjoyed creating their own portraits by being drawn around and then using a mirror to colour and paint what they look like. We even had a special visit from Mr Laurie in the garden, who loved hearing all about the children's portraits!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
