Weeks commencing 12th, 22nd and 26th February (mid term break 19th - 21st)
In the lead up to the mid term break, we continued learning about the tasks required to look after a baby. We carried on with our sorting activity and some of us moved onto learning how to gently bathe a baby. We had some lovely demonstrations of how to carefully support a baby's head when carrying it and how to lie it down to put on a nappy - what caring children we have in our nursery!
We also had that loving feeling in nursery, giving us the chance to use our creative skills with different resources to make some Valentines themed items - some beautiful love-hearts were created!
As the days are getting longer, we are seeing improving weather and more sunshine, and the children are once again enjoying having morning registration in the nursery garden. We have have enjoyed getting out toys and equipment that have been away for the winter, such as our hammocks - we had lots of laughs trying to get in and out of them! Despite the sunshine, we are still experiencing cold and frosty starts to the day so we would ask parents/carers to make sure that children still come to nursery with cosy clothes - snowsuits, insulated footwear, hats and gloves are still a must have!
Week commencing 5th February 2024
Another busy week at Nursery! This week we started learning about the tasks required to look after a baby, and we are so lucky that we have some expert big brothers and sisters who have been able to keep us well informed! Our babies in nursery were cuddled, fed and checked over in the clinic and we used our cutting and gluing skills to make up our charts for what a baby needs.
As always, we had plenty of time for outdoor play and managed to have snack outside a couple of times despite the ice and the snow. We had fun 'Going on a Bear Hunt' on Explorers on Wednesday afternoon and didn't even have to pretend that we were going 'Squelch, Squerch' in the mud!
PE this week saw some budding gymnasts in the making who gave us a fine demonstration of their movement skills at different heights. We saw some amazing jumping, crawling, climbing, balancing and even some sausage rolls!
We had a lovely end to our week on Friday by having a 'picnic in the polytunnel' with our 'grab and go' lunch. After we finished eating, we enjoyed looking at all the new shoots and flowers that are beginning to come through in the raised beds - we think spring is on it's way!.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.
